About Earthquake Prediction:

Earthquake predictions mostly involve forecasting of an earthquake in a particular place at particular time frame. Predictions need to be at such a level that, they need to be authentic for pragmatic as well as technological intentions. Although, scientists predict the occurrence of earthquakes in some regions, most of these predictions are not that accurate. Since these earthquake prediction techniques are not consented by most seismologists, mostly the probability of occurrence of earthquakes in a particular place is made. This is mostly done through the seismic hazard programs.

Scientists have tried various methods in order to predict the occurrence of earthquakes as accurately as possible. For such predictions, scientists have tried to use different parameters. Some of them include the use of cloud patterns, patterns of seismology, electromagnetic field of the earth, and even behaviour of animals. Some scientists are of the view that animals have the capability of detection of the ultrasonic waves, which are mostly brought forth by the underground rupture of the earth’s crust. The detection of these waves is difficult for human beings. Recent research has indicated that rocks fracture also, help in the generation of earthquakes. The information that is used for the collection of data is very few. This makes the forecast of earthquakes that much difficult. After considering the sheer number of predictions, it is only a matter of fact that one such “prediction” is going to be correct. It is observed that a few minutes before the onslaught of the Tsunami in Tamil Nadu, a herd of black bucks were found to run away from the sea in the safety of the nearby hills.
